6 alternative and fun exercise classes that don't involve a gym

We all know the old saying "summer bodies are built in winter", but with colder, darker mornings and evenings, motivating yourself out of the house can be tricky at best. 

Don't let the winter months pull you into hibernation. Here's ten wildly fun and unique ways you can kick winter blues butt and get your own butt looking peachy for summer. 

1. Doga

For yogis who think they've mastered every possible distraction, here's a new challenge. Now you can learn downward dog from the experts. Doga is the new craze sweeping across the globe. 

The most important aspect of yoga with your dog, the the mindful time spent with your furry companion giving you both a sense of calm and relaxation.

2. ZUU

The new fitness regime created in Australia and now taking the world by storm. Not for the feint hearted, ZUU fitness classes are essentially HIIT (high intensity fitness training) workouts but with a twist; ZUU uses movement from the animal kingdom!! 

It's been called one of the most challenging workouts around; a fitness regime so intense that it was originally purposed for front line troops. Used by elite athletes, tactical police and and the armed forces, the workouts make use of seven primal and natural human movements for a full body workout.

 

3. Farm Gym

Try putting your fitness to a real test - on the farm. The Farm Gym in Woombye, Queensland will have you rolling soggy wet sugarcane bales up a hill, digging potatoes and shifting tractor tyres. 

4. Aqua Spinning

This new fitness trend might mean you can crush your cardio whilst also staying cool, thanks to aqua-fitness equipment.

Shifting the bike into a pool setting makes it possible to get a whole body workout that’s also easy on the joints.

 

 

5. Handstand classes

Ever fancied being able to pop a perfect handstand? It takes practice, core stability and upper body strength, so why not integrate handstand classes into your workout routines?

Handstand classes make for a fun alternative workout - in a session, you’ll focus on improving your core, correcting body alignment, increasing mobility and flexibility… and of course, all that hand balancing means your arms and shoulders will get a killer workout. Time to turn your world upside-down!

6 Indoor Climbing

Hit the wall with a bunch of mates and feel the burn! Indoor climbing and bouldering make for a really fun workout - you’ll feel your legs, core, upper body and forearms working hard. It’s a great all-body alternative workout if you hate the gym!
